Flying Scroll of Zechariah - An attempt to elaborate and conclude the work of Michael Rood and that IRAN (not IRAQ) is the place where the Missiles are set

Michael Rood has a very intriguing article which was originally posted in the year 2003 regarding the flying scroll of Zechariah 5. In that article he pointed out and concluded that the vision of the flying scroll shown to the Prophet Zechariah by an angel of the Lord is a missile. The title of this interesting post is written below.

by Michael Rood

I would suggest that you as a reader of this post,  read first the article of Michael Rood in its entirety so as to have a better grasp of what I will be expanding. To understand it please read it here.

The text of our investigation is found in the whole chapter of Zechariah 5 written below. I am using the Modern King James Version (MKJV) on this.

As indicated in the title of this blog, I will add my personal understanding to the whole passage, verse by verse if needed, add an image to the verse and finally analyze the most important and critical of all the words given. This word or phrase is the final location of where these scrolls will be set which is the "Land of Shinar".

The reason for this is that I believe Mr. Michael Rood erred in his analysis on the exact location of where this scroll is set. He pointed the place as Iraq.

With due respect to him, I believe that the place mention by the angel of the Lord to Zechariah is... IRAN.

Zec 5:1  And I again lifted up my eyes and looked. And behold! A flying scroll.

Zec 5:2  And he said to me, What do you see? And I answered, I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits, and its width ten cubits.

Convert these dimensions to Inches we get:
1 royal cubit = 20.61 inches
20 cubits x 20.61 = 412.2 inches
412.2 inches divide by 12 = 34.35 feet. This is the length of the scroll
To get the diameter D (here we need to assume that the width is given in circumference), so D = 10 divide by pi (3.1416) = 3.183 cubits
3.183x 20.61 = 65.6 inches
65.6 inches divided by 12 = 5.47 feet. This is the diameter of the flying scroll.

Zec 5:3  And he said to me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth; for from now on everyone who steals shall be cut off according to it; and everyone who swears from now on shall be cut off according to it.

There are three things to consider here.

1. That the destruction caused by this flying scroll is called a CURSE. What is the curse?

2. It will kill and destroy only the person who is branded by the LORD OF HOST as a thief. Moreover it will destroy the homes of the peoples classified as thieves. Michael Rood has his own explanation as to the meaning of the word |thief" in his article. But we will ask ourselves, who is the Lord of Host? His name is Yeshua (Jesus). Yeshua was the One who instructed the angel of the Lord to give the vision to Zechariah. And when Jesus appeared in the flesh in AD 29-32, He gave us the clue as to how to identify a thief.

Joh 10:1  Truly, truly, I say to you, He who does not enter into the sheepfold by the door, but going up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber.
Joh 10:2  But he who enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
Joh 10:3  The doorkeeper opens to him, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
Joh 10:4  And when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him. For they know his voice.
Joh 10:5  And they will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.
Joh 10:6  Jesus spoke this parable to them, but they did not understand what it was which He spoke to them.
Joh 10:7  Then Jesus said to them again, Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
Joh 10:8  All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.
Joh 10:9  I am the door. If anyone enters in by Me, he shall be saved and shall go in and out and find pasture.

3. Now lastly, I concur with Michael Rood, as to how to interpret the word "earth" here means the Land of Israel only. The flying scrolls (as the angel of the Lord indicated to Zechariah that there are "many" of this scroll being set with a launching pad (base).

Zec 5:4  I will bring it forth, says Jehovah of Hosts; and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears falsely by My name. And it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall devour it, and its timber and its stones.

Again , the angel of the Lord reiterate to the Prophet who the recipient of this curse will fall. Moreover he mentioned YHVH of Host as an assurance that it these flying missiles will surely afflict only the house of the thief. It will devastate the houses of the spiritually thieves only.

Zec 5:5  Then the angel who talked with me went forth and said to me, Now lift up your eyes and see what this is that goes forth.
Zec 5:6  And I said, What is it? And he said, This is the ephah that goes forth. And he said, This is their form in all the earth.

The ephah is a container of measurement. This word is translated in other books as basket or container

The phrase "This is there form in all the earth" means every where these scrolls are set their appearance are all these same. The missiles will look similar everywhere.

Zec 5:7  And behold, a lead cover was lifted up, and a woman was sitting in the middle of the ephah.

And see, when the protective lead cover shield was dismantled,

a fire (offering) is set in the center of the container.

Here we need to replace the word "woman" with "fire offering"

a fire offering is a description that  life  will be cut off by the use of fire source - destruction by fire or explosion. Contrast this with burnt offering which is usually referring to the offering of animals (killing them) and burning them.

We know now that the original translators, did not understand the context of this phrase since the word "woman" and "fire offering" have the same wording in the Hebrew letter.

To show you how this thing happened, we will give you the following original passage in Zechariah where we can see the Hebrew word for "woman" and another passage in exodus where the same Hebrew word means "fire offering".

Now again, look at the translation of the Hebrew word "ISHSHAH" in the Book of Exodus

Zec 5:8  And he said, This is wickedness.

The angel of the Lord of Host explained to Zechariah that this missile attack to all the Land of Israel is an atrocious, barbaric and an evil act against all morality.

We will examine the word "wickedness" in the original Hebrew.

The word Hebrew "rishah" is a feminine of Strong number 7562. Which in turn point us to the original root word "rashah" which means that this killing of the Israelite people is "barbaric" "a violation of human life" damnable to the utmost and murder of the extreme kind.

And he cast it into the midst of the ephah. And he cast the lead stone over its opening.

And he cast it in the center of the cylindrical container.

What is the purpose of the Lead cover?

The metal lead is one of the best materials to shield one from deadly radiation specially those of the Beta and Gamma rays.

Zec 5:9  And I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, two women came out.

Look it has two FIRE CYCLE. It is a TWO-STAGE MISSILE.

And the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork. And they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heavens.

Zec 5:10  And I said to the angel who talked with me, Where are they going with the ephah?
Zec 5:11  And he said to me, To build a house for it in the land of Shinar; and it shall be established and set there on its own base.

Now, the question really is: Where is this location where these missile are set - ready to launch and rain down upon all the corners of Israel? - Zechariah asked the angel of the Lord. The angel of the Lord told Zechariah  they will set these missiles " in the Land of Shinar".

Now Mr Michael Rood immediately thought that the land of Shinar is now what is called IRAQ. This answer is not totally right.

During the time of the Prophet Zechariah (520 -519 BCE), the land of Iran was ruled by Darius the Great.

Before the reign of Darius the Great the Kingdom of Babylon has gained an expansive area in IRAN; The kingdom of Babylon is the term used to mean the "Land of Shinar". This is the key to understanding this phrase.

The word "Babylon" can mean two things. Babylon the city or Babylon the Kingdom.

Babylon City is located in the land of Shinar. Now there is also a place called "Shinar" only. It is an area south of Babylon City. We will not elaborate that place here.

There are at least three big cities comprising the Land of Shinar originally. These are Babylon (city), Akkad, & Uruk.

Even before the time of Darius the Great, where the Kingdom of Babylon has gained stronghold, the area gained was counted as the jurisdiction of Babylon (the kingdom).

These areas are called "the land of Shinar"

Most of the areas in Iran at the time of Zechariah were part of Babylon. Example of these area are the huge provinces of Media and the southern portions bordering the Persian Gulf.

Consider the following account of how most part of Iran at the time Zechariah wrote this prophecy.

Shinar in the Bible

Shinar is mentioned a total of eight times in the Bible: Genesis 10:10; 11:2; 14:1, 9; Isaiah 11:11; Daniel 1:2; and Zechariah 5:11. In addition, Achan (Joshua 7:21) sinned in taking a Shinarish garment as forbidden loot in the destruction of Ai; although the KJV translation says the garment was “Babylonian,” the same Hebrew word is used for “Shinar” as in the previous seven verses (Strong 1894, #8152). The four Genesis verses all refer to Shinar as the place where the Tower of Babel was built; Isaiah 11:11 is a reference to the gathering of the children of Israel from far places; and Zechariah 5:11 sees a vision, in which an angel tells him that a house for the ephah will be built in the land of Shinar.3

The Daniel reference to Shinar is interesting.

When Nebuchadnezzar took part of the vessels of the house of God from Jerusalem and carried them into Shinar “to the house of his god” (Daniel 1:2), where did he take them? Since Nebuchadnezzar was king of Babylon, and lived in the city of Babylon, it is unlikely that this place in Shinar was the same place as the city of Babylon, or the biblical narrative would have simply said so (it does in 2 Chronicles 36:5–7). We would expect that Shinar would have been a place somewhere in his large kingdom that Nebuchadnezzar visited on the way back home to the city of Babylon;

as we will show later, Shinar was a territory that was largely in the area of northeast Syria. However, we can only speculate where this “house of his god” was in Shinar; the biblical author clearly assumed that everybody knew where this was and did not find it necessary to state it in the text. One possibility is that Nebuchadnezzar left the booty at a northern temple of the god, Marduk (or Merodach, Jeremiah 50:2, KJV), also called Bel, who was the supreme god of the pantheon at the city of Babylon at this time in history (Oates 1979, p. 105). There is evidence of worship of Marduk in the north; for instance, ancient Ebla, in the northwest of Syria, is called “Tell Mardikh” (another spelling of Marduk) even today (Finegan 1979, p. 43).

There is also the question of whether it is the city or the kingdom of Babylon that is meant in some biblical and other historical references. Indeed, many verses mentioning Babylon could be quoted, that could refer to the kingdom as a whole and not just to the city itself. For instance, Isaiah 39:6–7 says that everything in the king’s house would be carried to Babylon, but the context of the chapter shows that “Babylon” refers to the kingdom, and not necessarily just to the city. Also, in Ezra 6: 1, 2,

 Now consider this.

Darius ordered his people to look for the roll containing Cyrus’ decree to build the temple at Jerusalem; the search was to be made “where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.” The roll they wanted actually turned up in the palace at Achmetha (Ecbatana, now Hamadan), in the province of the Medes (Iran today), far from the city of Babylon itself, although the province of the Medes was part of the far-flung kingdom of Babylon at that time (Heritage 2004, p. 148; Yamauchi 1990, p. 305). This location for the scroll actually makes sense, because Cyrus had made Ecbatana his annual summer capital, and he could well have made this decree while staying there (Mitchell 1991, pp. 426–427).

From this we can deduce that the place where the flying missiles are to be set is part of  IRAN (the province of the Medes) and the southern areas which were part of the land called the Land of Shinar

In another example, the Babylonian account of a campaign by the Hittite king, Mursili I, said that he went against “Shinar” (Sa-an-ha-ra). However, a Neo-Hittite document about the same campaign said it was against the country of “Babylon” (Kalimi 2000, p. 1213). We see in this example that Shinar was named as a territory in its own right in the one account, but was considered as part of the Babylonian empire in the other account. Because the Hittite kingdom was located in the north, largely contained in what is western Turkey today (Hittite Period, 2006), the area of Shinar would have been right next door and would have been quite convenient for making a campaign.

Now we will look at the map where the media (medes) province is located. This province was once under Babylon (the kingdom) which was also called "the Land of Shinar" at the time of Zechariah.

Now look today where the nuclear reactors of Iran are located.

Finally here is the simulation video of this attack:

Understanding the Mysteries in The Book of Revelations

      (Through the Bible Code)

Bong Zason

Yeshua (Jesus) promises ‘Pillarship’ to anyone who overcomes in the Church of Philadelphia

"He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more."
                                                        Revelation 3:12

What is a pillar?

A pillar is a solid structural post that supports part or the whole of a building.

In ancient designs, it may also serve as a structural foundation.

In this case, the building, as quoted by Jesus is the temple of God.

This temple is to be construed as “true Christianity” in the whole church age.

According to our dear Lord, he who overcomes during this Philadelphian Church era (from the Reformation of Martin Luther and John Calvin up to the Great Awakening period and a little later; that is from A.D.1500—A.D.1900) shall be given the privilege to become a pillar;

- to be part of the Theological foundational structure of the Christian Church from thence thereafter.

Their names, through their edifying preaching and collected writings will always be remembered even until the end of time.

What a promise!

“And he shall go out no more”.

If one desires and decides to study Christian Theology, he will eventually encounter names as such Calvin, Luther, Spurgeon, Whitefield, Wesley, Edwards, Brown, Hodge, Matthew Henry, Dabney, Gill, Darby, and Scoffield.

A little later came the likes of Hendriksen, Pink, John-Lloyd, Owen, Murray, Vos, Ellis, Warfield, and a host of other “overcomers” which are still in that period of time.

A plain discussion pertaining to doctrines even today always involves the mentioning of a few of these names and quoting their works (as if relying on their school of thought; i.e. Orthodox, Evangelical, or Reformed theology).

Jesus Himself accords these people the title pillars of the Church ...

because of their great contributions to the Church as a whole in redefining the “Righteousness of God in Jesus Christ” and also in systematizing soundly (or it may seemed) the doctrine of Christian theology in part or in whole.

We may ask the question: Are not the 12 apostles rightly called the “pillars” of Christendom?

I say, in a broader sense, yes!

But there is more weight to assume that technically, only those who were directly involved in the administration and indoctrinations of the early Jerusalem church are to be considered pillars.

Consider what the Apostle Paul implied to the Galatians when he wrote; “and when James (brother of Jesus), Peter, and John who seemed to be pillars…” (Gal. 2:9).

It is interesting to note that only these three apostles were to great extent deeply involved in the work at the church of Jerusalem in its formative period and that these three were the only ones to have produced canonical writings which now form part of the New Testament. (i.e. The Gospel according to John, his first, second, and third epistles, the two epistles of Peter, and the epistle of James)

The rest of the Apostles, except Matthew, did not write a single epistle although they all became effective evangelists—preaching the gospel to Europe and to the ends of the earth, converting many souls and eventually became martyrs.
